The term is used all over the world and generally in conjunction with the Gregorian calendar. There are just over 52 weeks in a year.

Keeping the above definition in mind, weekly then simply means an event or an occurrence that happens once per week.

Let’s look at some examples.

If Mark gets paid weekly on Mondays – this means that Mark would get his wages paid every Monday.

If a newspaper or magazine is a “weekly” – it means that a new edition is issued once per week.
